Bible Study - AFTER LIFE - Handling the I.E.D.

Sermon-Based Bible Study – May 23, 2021
- What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you experienced God’s love and faithfulness this week?
- Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or discouragement? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?
- What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?
- To begin, consider asking one of the questions below:
- How do you typically think of anger? (ex: part of your “personality”; not that big of a deal unless you do something hurtful; God is angry; etc.)
- What are some things that make you angry and why?
- Matthew 5:21-22a reads, “You have heard that it was said to the people long ago, ‘You shall not murder, and anyone who murders will be subject to judgment.’ But I tell you that anyone who is angry with a brother or sister will be subject to judgment.”
- How do the words of Jesus help us to understand the human heart?
- When we get angry, how can the Spirit of God help us to move forward?
- James 4:1 reads, “What causes fights and quarrels among you? Don’t they come from your desires that battle within you?”
- These “desires” can cause us to get angry. Chris mentioned that we need to address our own heart and the desires within. Why is this important?
- How can this help us in our relationships, so that we don’t end up quarreling with others?
- Jesus died for our sins and for the anger that can cause us to sin. How does this encourage you?
