Bible Study - LUKE: Unshakeable
- What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you seen or experienced the faithfulness of God since our last meeting?
- Where are you experiencing stress or anxiety? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?
- What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?
- Take some time to remind the group that this passage is not exclusively about how or when the world will end or the second coming of Jesus Christ. The context of the passage is in reference to the destruction of the temple and fall of Jerusalem. Verse 8 states, “And he said, ‘See that you are not led astray. For many will come in my name, saying, ‘I am he!’ and, ‘The time is at hand!’ Do not go after them.” In one sense, Jesus warns the audience (and us) about false teachers. Why is it important to be aware of false teachers who peddle false gospels or incomplete gospels?
- Verses 14-15 read, “Settle it therefore in your minds not to meditate beforehand how to answer, for I will give you a mouth and wisdom, which none of your adversaries will be able to withstand or contradict.” What is Jesus teaching us about sharing the Good News in this world? How does this encourage you? How does this inform our witness and proclamation?
- In verse 36 Jesus states, “But stay awake at all times, praying that you may have strength to escape all these things that are going to take place, and to stand before the Son of Man.” What kind of posture is Jesus encouraging believers to take? Why can Christians stand before the Son of Man with certainty?

- Sometimes it takes everything else that we think is “unshakeable” being shaken so that we can truly see that which is unshakeable.
- Times of shaking are times for Jesus followers to raise their heads and look up.
- Times of peace are times for Jesus followers to stay attentive to what matters.
