Bible Study - LUKE: ROFL

  1. What is something God has done for you that you are thankful for or are celebrating? How have you witnessed the steadfast love and faithfulness of God since our last meeting?

  2. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or fear? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?

  3. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?

  4. The story of the resurrection of Jesus Christ is powerful, and it is a story that many people (including non-Christians) have heard at some point. 1 Corinthians 15:17 reads: “And if Christ has not been raised, your faith is futile; you are still in your sins.” What is Paul teaching us in this verse? What does this tell us about the significance of the resurrection?

  5. Read Luke 24:9-12. What details does Luke record in these verses, and what stands out to you? What might it have been like for the women to tell the disciples about the empty tomb? How do these details shape your perspective on the disciples?

  6. Chris mentioned that this story in Luke shows us that the disciples are “in process.” In fact, all throughout the Gospel of Luke (and the other gospels) we read that the disciples are slow to understand and believe that Jesus is the promised Messiah. How does this inform your perspective on faith and growth? Can you think of times in your life when you have wrestled with the truth of Jesus?

  7. One of the takeaways that Chris mentioned was: when it comes to the twist of the resurrection story, we must beware of spiritual snobbery. What is the caution here? If you are a believer, what should you be mindful about? If you are unsure about Jesus, what would it mean to ask questions and investigate?

  8. The resurrection of Jesus Christ changes everything; it means that he is King. What would it look like to make Jesus the King of all of your life? How or where do you struggle with this reality?

  9. Is there someone in your life that needs to hear the Good News of the Gospel? Can the group pray for him/her?
