Bible Study - FOR A LIMITED TIME: Whatever Happens

  1. What is something you’ve experienced while staying at home/working from home, that you did not anticipate or expect that has been a blessing?  What is one thing you’ve experienced in the past few weeks that you hope continues after the social distancing guidelines are loosened?

  2. Who is a neighbor of yours that you’ve met for the first time/talked to for the first time/or learned their name, since we’ve been “safer at home?”  During this season of “safer at home” has God created any opportunities for you to engage with any of the people you were praying for during our 30 day prayer effort called “Jesus Next Door?”  What happened?

  3. Where are you experiencing stress, anxiety or fear? How would you like to see God move in your life or in the life of someone close to you?

  4. What did you hear in this week’s sermon that was new or particularly interesting? Did anything stand out to you as puzzling or troubling?

  5. Read Philippians 1:18-27.  What is Paul hoping for and expecting to happen to him?  What is his biggest concern?  Chris pointed out that there are three things mentioned or inferred here that give Paul confidence that he will be “delivered.”  What are they?  Are you praying for anyone in a season of difficulty?  How have you experienced the Spirit of God strengthen you in a season of distress?

  6. In Philippians 1:24, Paul says “For to me, to live is Christ and to die is gain.”  Chris challenged us to “fill in the blanks” for ourselves.  How would you fill in those blanks right now?  For to me, to live is ______________ and to die is ________________.

  7. Read Philippians 2:5-8.  What do you think Paul meant by saying “Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy of the gospel of Christ?”  How does this passage help you understand what it means to conduct yourself in a manner worthy of the gospel?

  8.  Read Philippians 3.  What does this chapter say to you about the nature of God?  What does it reveal about the human condition?  What is the Spirit through this passage encouraging you to do, believe or change?

  9. Read Philippians 4.  What does this chapter say to you about the nature of God?  What does it reveal about the human condition? What is the Spirit through this passage encouraging you to do, believe or change?
